What is Shopper Marketing?
Shopper marketing often refers to the activities taken on by a retailer to promote awareness and sales of a company’s product line. Typically retail marketing activities are targeted towards consumers through retail channels like stores, malls, kiosks, etc. Sounds straightforward enough, right? The difference between traditional and shopper marketing is that traditional marketing tactics focus on email, direct mail and the web.
Retailers have a very unique opportunity to reach their audience. When you visit any retail location, whether it’s your local gas station, mall or grocery store, retail marketing surrounds you. That signage that tells you that everything at the GAP is 25% off or at Best Buy showcasing the latest 4D TV is all targeted advertising to the consumer. Best Buy sells more televisions in the lead up to the Super Bowl than any other time of the year.
Why is that? Really sound marketing.
